Goals

Africa’s Angels is a privately run website and is not affiliated with any specific organization. Its goals are to provide information about the AIDS epidemic in Africa, the resulting orphan crisis, the many organizations and individuals working to help these children, and details on how anyone can help. It is meant to serve as a resource for those looking to learn more about the situation and also provide a guide for those searching for ways to help Africa’s orphans. Mrs. Bui continues to gather information on additional children’s homes, social workers and organizations that are working with AIDS orphans in Africa in order to include them on this site once their legitimacy has been confirmed. Many of the wonderful homes and community projects working with AIDS orphans are not able to maintain their own websites. Publicizing the incredible work these groups do is absolutely critical if they hope to find the support they need in order to continue helping these precious Angels.

Another significant aspect of the Africa’s Angels website will be adoption guidelines. With thousands of African children being orphaned each year due to AIDS, the resulting overflow of parentless children is too much for local families to bear. International adoption is an important alternative for helping orphans who suffer as a result of a shortage of willing domestic adoptive families. The goal of this portion of the site will be to give families from any country information on how to pursue an adoption from various African nations. At this time the site will focus on adoption guidelines and contacts for orphans in South Africa and Kenya. In time, however, the goal is to expand to include information on other African nations in need.

History

Africa’s Angels is an informational website created in 2004 by Jennifer Bui, a social worker in the United States with the assistance of her family. Mrs. Bui was the program coordinator for the African Adoption Alliance; a program of AAA Partners in Adoption, Inc. AAA Partners in Adoption, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit adoption agency in the United States. Mrs. Bui founded the African Adoption Alliance in 2001 and coordinated it until it's close in 2004 due to Hague difficulties.

However, many African nations still have a massive orphan crisis due to the ever-present AIDS epidemic. Continued resources and assistance is desperately needed to help these orphans. There are many people all over the world, including the United States, who wish to help, but are not sure where or how to begin. Some of these individuals are interested in sending donations or sponsoring a child in need, others are looking to spend time volunteering at a home in need and still others are hoping to adopt some of these orphans and provide them with the loving home they deserve. Thus far, there has not been a centralized location where individuals can turn to and learn more about the AIDS epidemic, the orphan crisis and ways they can help. This is the inspiration for the Africa’s Angels website.
